Weekly Announcements: February 7, 2016

WELCOME! We extend a cordial welcome to all who are visiting with us this morning. We hope you will find both inspiring worship and a warm welcome at Genesee Baptist Church.

CHRISTIAN COMMITMENT: If you wish to accept the Lord as your personal savior, renew your commitment to Jesus Christ as and Savior, or become a member of Genesee Baptist Church, there are two ways you may do so. You may join the pastor during the Hymn of Invitation, or you may speak with one of the pastors at the close of the service. Pastor’s classes for those interested in church membership are held on the Tuesday after the second Sunday of each month or upon special request. Call or email the church office if you plan to attend.

PRAYER REQUESTS: During the Offering, please place prayer requests in the white basket rather than in the offering plates.

CONTINUING PRAYER LIST: Please pray for the following members and friends: Cecil Rose, Erline Warren, Helen Hussong, Joe McElrath, Crystal Scott, Joyce Headley.

SUNDAY SCHOOL: Following the Time for Youth, all children and youth are invited to attend Sunday School.

BIBLE STUDY: Bible Study will resume in March 2016.

WEEKLY FINANCIAL REPORT:

FEBRUARY IS UNDIES MONTH During the month of February, please bring in new undies – for men, women & children. Place them in the Cameron Basket in the hallway.

CHURCH INVITATION: The entire Genesee Baptist Church has been invited to share in the celebration of the 23rd church anniversary of the Ebenezer Baptist Church on Thursday, March 17th at 7:00pm.

PASTOR’S CLASS: The next pastor’s class will be held on February 27th at 12:00 noon. Those who are to be baptized must attend the class.

BAPTISM: Next baptism will be held on March 13th during the morning worship.

PASTOR TO BE HONORED: Our pastor is one of the honorees at the Black Heritage Dinner “Recognizing Our Community Leaders” given by Trinity Emmanuel Presbyterian Church on March 5th at 5:00pm at the Italian American Community Center. Tickets are $45.00. See Toni Phelps or see bulletin board for more information.

There will be an Ash Wednesday Service at 6:00 pm this Wed. Feb. 10th.

LICENSE TO PREACH on January 31st Genesee Baptist Church will officially present Minister Joyce Newton her license to preach during morning worship.

SUNDAY SCHOOL: Classes for children in PreK through senior high have resumed.

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS: Board of Christian Education is in need of Sunday School teachers .If you are willing to teach at least one Sunday a month, please see Carol Owens or Mary O’Neal.

BIBLE STUDY: Bible Study is held on Wednesday evenings at 6pm in Pastor’s Study. This week’s study on Nov. 11, is based on: Acts 15: 1-12; “No Difference in God’s Sight”.

WEEKLY FINANCIAL REPORT: Intake 11/1/15  $2894.

ELEVATOR FUND DONATIONS: If you are placing donations to the Elevator Fund in the offering plate, please be sure you have written “Elevator” or the team name on your check or envelope for Allan.

NOVEMBER TOWER TALK NEWSLETTER is available on the credenza for those without email.

144th CHURCH ANNIVERSARY GIFT: We have begun our 144th gift kick off. We encourage you to give as soon as possible. Everyone is encouraged to give this gift to the church. The gifts start at $1.44, $14.40, $144.00. or $1,440.00. These numbers correspond with the 144 years.

BOARD MEETINGS TODAY:  Nov. 8 following worship.

CABINET MEETING: Wed. Nov. 11 at 7pm.

WOMEN”S SOCIETY: Wed. Nov. 11 at noon in the parlor.

FBH STOCKING STUFFERS We are once again collecting donations of small gifts for residents of the Fairport Baptist Homes during the month of November. They may be brought into church and left in the memorial parlor. See today’s insert for gift ideas.

Bring a Friend Sunday & the carry-in dinner will be Sunday, November 22nd. We will be hosting Mayor Lovely Ann Warren, the Rochester City Police Department, the Rochester Fire Department and EMTS.

GENESEE BAPTIST FAMILY NIGHT will be held on Sat. Nov. 21 from 4-8pm. There will be pizza, wings, snacks & soft drinks. There will be fellowship, board games & family fun! Please RSVP to the church office if you plan on attending. 585-436-7250.

celebrations committee meeting on Saturday, Nov. 14th at 10am. Committees should be able to report or send reports if you are unable to attend.

Today we extend our congratulations to those who will be baptized. They are: Orlene and Hubert Patterson, and Cavelle and Lincoln (Michael) Mighty.

2016 Faith in Action Honorees: Robert, Bernadette, Matthew & Elisha Snow

Genesee Baptist honors the Snow family.   Robert, Bernadette, Matthew and Elisha have all been very faithful and dedicated members. Robert is on the Board of Christian Education, has been our Men’s Day speaker and very instrumental with the church outings. Bernadette is the Chair of the Church Cabinet, a deacon, and is faithful with any activity in the church. Matthew has been an usher, participates in church plays and is always will to offer help to the seniors and anyone who needs help to transport items. Elisha sings in the choir, has been an usher, helps with Sunday school and has directed children’s choir.

Certain areas of the website are restricted to Genesee Baptist Church members (New Members, Member Directory, Church Constitution pages). Genesee members are encouraged to register on the website to set up a username and password to access all of the site’s valuable content. We’ve created a quick video tutorial to walk you through the new website. We hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch it to get acclimated with Genesee’s new online home.
