“It’s A New Season”

Invitational Hymn

It’s a new season, it’s a new day

A fresh anointing is flowing my way

It’s a season of power and prosperity

It’s a new season coming to me!

Dictionary.com defines the verb “feel” as the following: “to perceive or examine by touch; to have a sensation of something, other than by sight, hearing, taste, or smell; to find or pursue one’s way…; to be or become conscious of; to be emotionally affected by; to experience the effects of.” The word can also be used as a noun: “a quality of an object that is perceived by feeling or touching (“the feel of the fabric”); a sensation of something felt (“a feeling of joy in the room”); and the “native ability of acquired sensitivity” (“to have a feel for something”).

The Scriptures offered for study of this theme each address a different type of feeling: In Luke, the diseased woman feels the healing of Christ at the same time that Jesus feels power leaving him at her touch. In Acts (highlighted by the words used in the New Living Translation), God wants us to “feel” our way towards him and find him—a wording that emphasizes that our walk of faith is often hesitant, uncertain, little steps at a time, but God assures us that God is with us and God will be found! Finally, in 1 Samuel 2, as described by the words chosen in The Voice biblical paraphrase, Hannah’s prayer comes out of her deepest feelings of joy and love for God.

“Feel/Siente . . .” will give us the opportunity to spend two years focusing upon the many ways we experience God through Jesus Christ—how we feel God at work in us and through us. The theme invites us to feel compassion for others—to be emotionally affected by what is happening to our sisters and brothers next door and around the world. Finally, the theme gives shape to our faith journey for the next two years, as we continue to feel our way towards God.

Resources for individual study, small groups, leadership development, and theme-related programming are available at www.abwministries.org.
